This international Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Series in support of these worldwide concerns was released in September, 2015, by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The ISO 14001:2015 Standard has been set up to work in conjunction of an already existing and functioning documented management system, in particular the ISO 9000 Family.
The basic premise for the EMS series is that every organization already has a relationship with the environment. And ... this relationship is unique to each organization. The organization must therefore, in conforming to ISO 14001, first understand its relationship with the environment, and then, work to improve its relationship by actively and effectively working toward better performance within the environment.
